The owner is the person who is in possession of a hardware asset. Owners are available to the IT Asset Management Pack from Service Manager user CIs, which are usually populated through the Active Directory connector.
Ownership information can also include an organization and a location for the asset. Use the ownership to help service desk analysts locate an asset if a service call needs to be made.
